Plant a Seed, Reap a Harvest; Sow a Good Deed, Reap a Blessing!
Isaiah 55:11 KJV
-Dr. Benny M. Abante, Jr.-
Preached during the Sunday Evening Worship Service
On November 13, 2016 at the MBBE Sanctuary, Sta. Ana, Manila
Introduction
The Bible says the field is the world, the good seed which turns into wheat are the children of the kingdom (Matt. 13:38) and the seed is the Word of God (Luke 8:11).
Message
1. The Lord gave us a command to perform. His command never fails whether we do it or not.
2. The Lord gave us a blessing to receive. His blessings will always be given only to those who obeyed.
3. The Lord gave us a message to share. A message which we also received and experienced and we are duty bound to communicate that message too. The compelling reason – Romans 10: 13-15.
4. The Lord is concerned about the lack of laborers (Matt. 9:37-38). Why do we have this when the Lord has asked us to pray for laborers? Here are the seeming conflicts:
a. The seeming conflict between career and calling (1 Corinthians 1:26-29).
b. The seeming priority of the concerns of life than the concerns of the soul (Luke 14:18-20).
c. The misunderstanding of what the real riches are (Hebrews 11:25-26).
d. The fear of surrendering our lives to Christ. Focus on the life of Abraham; the call of Abraham (Gen.12); the sacrifice of Isaac (Gen. 22); and the promise of blessing (Gen.22:17-18).
d.1. Let our fear be overcome by faith;
d.2. Let our faith be turned to obedience;
d.3. Let our obedience be coupled with humility;
d.4. Let our humility prepare us to sacrifice; and
d.5. Let our sacrifice be turned to blessings.
Conclusion
Evangelism and discipleship always reap the favor of God which spells the success of the ekklesia. And aside from obedience, evangelism and discipleship will fuel the generosity of God’s people and will cause the prosperity of the believers.
